Mediation

To facilitate the establishment of a mutually agreeable custody and visitation schedule with the best interests of the children in mind, in situations involving any custody dispute or request for modification of existing court custody and visitation orders, the parents will be first ordered to mediation. The mediation conference is held with a trained mediator approximately 1 to 2 weeks prior to the pending court hearing. At the conclusion of the meeting, the mediator will issue his or her report. The mediation session and the report remain confidential. If the parties reach an agreement, the agreement will ultimately become the order of the court at the court hearing.
